What is hepatitis B?
- Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is a liver infection and the leading cause of liver cancer worldwide.
- 2/3 of chronic HBV carriers are not aware of their infection because they have never been tested and HBV usually doesn't have symptoms.
- Liver cancer typically appears in people of working age, between ages 35-65.
How is hepatitis B impacting our employees?
- 1 in 12 of your foreign -born employees may have chronic HBV.
- 25% of these will die prematurely if they are not diagnosed and linked to care.
- Some employees may believe myths about transmission, leading to stigma or isolation in the workplace.
- HBV-associated deaths and stigma are preventable through awareness about testing and transmission.

- Jade represents good luck and longevity in many cultures. JoinJade is a collective impact campaign founded at Stanford University in 2001, to eliminate deaths and stigma associated with hepatitis B and liver cancer.
